The harvest of kadarka in Bački Vinogradi started on Friday, 23 September, somewhat earlier than planned. The harvest took four days. At our vineyard, the grapes are harvested, naturally, only manually, under the supervision of a Rioja oenologist, by a well-tuned team of local pickers that have proven themselves as hardworking and reliable workers.
In late August, we had expected to harvest kadarka in early October. However, optimal sugars, acids and phenolic maturity were achieved in the fourth week of September.
This year’s harvest was characterised by intermittent spells of warm and rainy weather, which helped the vines to avoid summer stress. The whole of September was dry and warm, but not too hot, so the grapes ripened excellently. Apart from that, the yields, to which we pay special attention and must never exceed 1 kilogram per vine, reached their upper limit. What is of utmost importance is that the grapes were completely healthy this year. Because of these characteristics, we are very proud of the 2016 vintage.
We can promise you enjoyable and top quality wines.
